Apapa Command Makes 96% Revenue Target
The Apapa Customs Command generated over N299.9billion in its revenue drive from January to December 2016, 4% less than the expected 100% target projected for the year just ended. The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Jibrin Musa, disclosed.
According to Jibrin “Apapa being the leading port in the country has done quite well in revenue generation and this has been recognized by the top Customs management. Our Command scored as high as 96 percent in revenue collection during the assessment of all Customs formations by CGC Ali Hameed.
The CAC added that “the CGC was impressed by our revenue records and he commended the efforts of officers and men of Apapa Area Command. We are going to do more because we have necessary work tools to carry out our activities effectively. The CGC has also promised to equip us with more logistics to enhance operational efficiency”.
Our reporter who was at the command recently gathered that the Command generated over N35billion in the month of August 2016.
To ensure better performance this year, insiders say the CAC is carrying out in-house trainings for officers and men of the command. This we are told is to equip the officers to do their work efficiently and ensure that no revenue is lost to persons who prefer to evade payment of duty to the Federal Government.
