Jubilation as FG Commends and Promote MAN Oron Staff
The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike
Rotimi Amaechi, in fulfilment of the Federal Government’s resolve to transform the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, has
approved the promotion of 378 Staff of the institution.
The promotion is the outcome of the result Junior, Senior and Management Staff interviews which took place in the main campus of the Academy late last year.
In the 40 years history of the Academy, never has half that number of staff been promoted in a single uplifting exercise.
The gesture is even more impacting when weighed against the backdrop of staff who have worked for years without being promoted, as well as some who were enjoying their first-ever promotion.
This gesture of the Honourable Minister of Transportation which is like a tonic releases a new lease of life, as many staff could be seen exuding fresh confidence and determination, which could be
considered important ingredients in Government’s transformation
drive.
Out of the promted  Staff 157 are junior, while the Senior and
Management Staff drawn from both the Academic and
Administration arms are 221.
Among them are three Chief Lecturers
namely, Engr. Maurice Nduka Ijeoma, Engr. Innocent Chijioke Ezeala and
Dr. John Aderemi Adeyanju. Four Directors Siddi Ekpaha MKPANDIOK, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Jonah Essien,
Personnel Affairs, Mr. Sunday Okwong Udoh, Finance and Account;
Mr. Okon Bassey Okon, Finance and Account.
Others promoted to the ranks of Assistant Chief Lecturers are
Mrs. Atim Afahaene Ikara, Mr. Ekwere Ekwere William, Mr.
Olaoluwa Olusegun Omotosho, Mrs. Angela Patrick Udofe and an
Assistant Chief Librarian, Mr. Enong Emmanuel Okon. Two Staff each were
promoted to the rank of Deputy Registrar and Deputy
Director. They are, Mr. Peter Makadas Netson and Mr. Ishiola Rafiu
Yusuf, Mrs. Theresa Thankgod Anya and Engr. Babawale
Odunayo Ogunsola respectively.
It could be recalled that the Honourable Minister directed the Permanent Secretary in charge of the Ministry, Alhaji Sabiu Zakari and four Directors in
the Ministry to personally supervise the interview which  was held in
December last year there was apprehension on the
part of staff being the first time, in the life of the Academy, that the Ministry was directly supervising promotion interviews in the institution.          The staff are now happier and ready to work harder.
The promoted staff are happy with the minister,
Permanent Secretary, and all the Directors and Staff of the Ministry who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the exercise.
Many Staff have also given kudos to the Management of Mr. Mkpandiok who expedited the promotion exercise and assisted the ministry to be fully involved.
