The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike

Rotimi Amaechi, in fulfilment of the Federal Government’s resolve to transform the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, has

approved the promotion of 378 Staff  of the institution.

The promotion is the outcome of the result Junior, Senior and Management Staff interviews which took place in the main campus of the Academy late last year.

In the 40 years history of the Academy, never has half that number of staff  been promoted in a single uplifting exercise.

The gesture is even more impacting when weighed against the backdrop of staff who have worked for years without being promoted, as well as some who were enjoying their first-ever promotion.

This gesture of the Honourable Minister of Transportation which is like a tonic releases a new lease of life, as many staff could be seen exuding fresh confidence  and determination, which could be

considered important ingredients in Government’s transformation

drive.

Out of the promted   Staff 157 are junior, while the Senior and

Management Staff drawn from both the Academic and

Administration arms are 221.

Among them are three Chief Lecturers

namely, Engr. Maurice Nduka Ijeoma, Engr. Innocent Chijioke Ezeala and

Dr. John Aderemi Adeyanju. Four Directors Siddi Ekpaha MKPANDIOK, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Jonah Essien,

Personnel Affairs, Mr. Sunday Okwong Udoh, Finance and Account;

Mr. Okon Bassey Okon, Finance and Account.

Others  promoted to the ranks of Assistant Chief Lecturers are

Mrs. Atim Afahaene Ikara, Mr. Ekwere Ekwere William, Mr.

Olaoluwa Olusegun Omotosho, Mrs. Angela Patrick Udofe and an

Assistant Chief Librarian, Mr. Enong Emmanuel Okon. Two Staff each were

promoted to the rank of Deputy Registrar and Deputy

Director. They are, Mr. Peter Makadas Netson and Mr. Ishiola Rafiu

Yusuf,  Mrs. Theresa Thankgod Anya and Engr. Babawale

Odunayo Ogunsola respectively.

It could be recalled that  the Honourable Minister directed the Permanent Secretary in charge of the Ministry, Alhaji Sabiu Zakari and four Directors in

the Ministry to personally supervise the interview which   was held in

December last year there  was apprehension on the

part of staff  being the first time, in the life of the Academy, that the Ministry was directly supervising promotion interviews  in the institution.           The staff are now happier and ready to work harder.

The promoted staff are happy with the minister,

Permanent Secretary, and all the Directors and Staff of the Ministry who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the exercise.

Many Staff  have also given kudos to the Management of Mr. Mkpandiok who expedited the promotion exercise and assisted the ministry to be fully involved.
