Transportation: Ghastly Accident Claim Lives along Ife Highway
Six persons have died in a fatal accident involving a commercial bus in Bolorunduro bus stop, near Ilesa junction on Ilesa-Ife Express Road on Tuesday.
The commercial bus with Reg. No: Ondo ANG400XA took off from Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos and was heading for Supare in Akoko, Ondo State, when the sad event occurred around 2:35pm.
An eye witness said the driver of the vehicle lost control when the rear tyre of the 14-seater Toyota Hiace burst.
He blamed the driver for driving on top speed and for following one-way on the ever busy road leading to Akure and Ekiti State.
Among the passengers involved in the accident were two twins who were travelling with their mother. One of the twin boys, however, survived the accident.
Our correspondent witnessed how the baby was miraculously dug out from the debris of the vehicle during rescue operation.
The driver of the vehicle also survived the accident and was still at the scene of the accident when our correspondent arrived.
The Ilesa Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, who led his men for the rescued operation said seven passengers that survived the accident, including the twin, had been taken to Wesley Hospital in Ilesa for treatment.
He said the bodies of three males, three females and the other twin had been deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.
Oyedeji advised motorists to drive carefully and avoid following one way.
