NPA Reiterates Commitment to Safety and Security
Even as she works at implementing and enforcing the Presidential directives on the Ease of doing business by making the ports more attractive to investors and ports users within and around the West African sub region, Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, has reiterated NPA’s commitment towards ensuring Safety and Security on Nigerian Waters by effective hydrographic charting of the navigable channels.
Speaking when she received a team of the Nigerian Hydrographic Society (NHS) led by Commodore C.E. Okafor, a Navy Hydrographer and President of the Nigerian Society of Hydrographers, Hadiza expressed desire by NPA to synergize with the Nigerian Navy in the actualization of a safe anchorage across board in National Maritime activities as well as uphold the highest standards in all operational activities in order to attract more businesses to Nigerian Ports.
Hadiza also tasked the visiting team to step up operations concerning safety and security of lives and cargoes within the Ports community.
Leader of the delegation, Commodore Okafor, pledged to support NPA’s efforts in enthroning best practices. He added that the Hydrographic Society looks forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with the Organization.
Specifically, the Hydrographers requested NPA to sustain the archiving of its materials for effective use, stressing that some of the materials available for use dates back to the 1892 hydrographic charting of our navigable waters.
