PTML Ready for 24hr Operations-Controller Aremu
Customs Area Controller of the Port and Terminal Multi-Services Ltd, PTML, Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Modupe Aremu (Mrs.) has assured maritime Stakeholders that her Command is more than ready for 24hr port operations.
This is said in deference to and in compliance by the Command to the Economic Vision/Fiscal Policies of the Federal Government as encapsulated in the Executive Orders recently issued by the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Speaking at the sidelines of the Town Hall Meeting on 24hr Port Operations, convened by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria, AMJON, the controller assured port users that PTML Command is the preferred destination port when it comes to Ease of Doing Business in the Ports.
In her words “We have made the system simple, transparent and predictable. Everybody wants fast, prompt, efficient services because time is very important. We are very mindful of that and no officer at PTML will delay any cargo without very cogent reasons. I have studied the environment and I know the Agents here want to take delivery of their cargo as quickly as possible and that is what we intend to do”
While reassuring stakeholders that her doors are open, the CAC stressed the need for Agents to be honest and sincere in their declarations. “If you are honest and you maintain integrity, if what you declare is not at variance with the actual cargo, then off you go, such Agents have nothing to worry about”.
For those who may want to cut corners and refuse to operate by the rules and regulations, the PTML Controller advise them to stay clear from her Command or face severe consequences. “We shall not tolerate any kind of misconduct from anybody, any erring officer or Agent shall be dealt with accordingly”, Controller Aremu said.
