Compt. Jibril Musa, CAC, Apapa Command

The Nigeria Premier port and the flagship of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command has continued to sustain her lead in revenue collection over the last ten months.

A total revenue collection of two hundred and eighty eight billion, six hundred and forty-seven million, eight hundred and fifty six thousand, five hundred and one naira, eleven kobo only (N288,647,856,501.11) was collected between the months of January and October, 2017.

A breakdown of this shows that the Command collected the sum of N25.9B, N24.7B, and N26.7B respectively for the months of January, February and March 2017.

N25.1B, N33.6 and N29.4B was collected for the months of April, May and June while the sum of N30.9 B, N32.1 B, N28.0B and 31.8B respectively was collected for the months of July, August, September and October 2017.

Comparatively, the Command in the corresponding period and year (2016) collected the sum of two hundred and forty four billion, one million, one hundred and fifteen thousand, seventy eight naira, forty-nine kobo only (N244,001,115,078.49). This implies that the Command recorded an increased revenue collection of forty four billion, six hundred and forty six million, seven hundred and forty one thousand, four hundred and twenty three naira, thirty eight kobo only (N44, 646,741,423.38).

This increase is attributed to the dynamic and sterling leadership prowess of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Jibril Musa who firmly insists on and maintains the implementation of all strategies and blueprints devised by the Command to block all revenue leakages while enhancing trade facilitation and security.

The command has continued to engage in painstaking and diligent scrutiny of all documents, insistence on thorough 100% examination of profiled cargos, implementation of the Executive Order on Ease of Doing Business and continuous stakeholders’ engagement for collaboration, interfacing and robust synergy among all government agencies and stakeholders involved in cargo clearance. This is evidenced in the improved compliance, honest declaration, integrity and transparency recorded by the command.

It is also worthy of note that the newly created platform of heads of security/government agencies in the ports have had series of meetings which led to prompt resolution of emerging challenges in the Apapa ports especially in the areas of security and improved vehicular movement along Apapa roads.

The Comptroller, officers and men of the Apapa Area Command in line with the change mantra of the Comptroller General, Col. Hameed Ali and his management team are poised to surpass the revenue target as is expected by the service leadership. All patriotic members of the ports business community are assured of a friendly atmosphere as they ensure total and strict compliance to all government fiscal policies.
