Customs Area Controller, CAC, Murtala Mohammed Int’nal Airport Command, Lagos, Dr. Jayne Shoboiki has assured stakeholders that while Customs operations and procedures have not changed, the MM Command under her leadership is raising the bar on professionalism, discipline and official conduct by officers of the Command to ensure that maximum Revenue is collected for the Federal Government from the Command.

Speaking while addressing a delegation of Customs Agents at the Command, the Controller reiterated that her Carrot and Stick principle and approach to duty in the Command is intended to optimize efficiency and dedication to duty.

Notwithstanding, she said dropping the carrot and wielding the stick, as far as revenue is concerned is an option she will not hesitate to enforce on collection of revenue at the Command.

In her words “Revenue is key. It is why we are here. We have the duty and the responsibility to ensure that we collect all Revenue on any item passing through this airport. Any officer found slacking, any leakage found anywhere, the concerned officers will be held responsible”. Shoboiki said.

Recall that Controller Shoboiki had on assumption of duty as CAC at MM emphasized that acts of indiscipline such as coming late to work, absence from duty post, negligence, absenteeism, improper dressing etc will not be tolerated by her.

As she raises the bar and sets new operational standards at MM, stakeholders who have pledged their their support to the Controller are hopeful of greater efficiency and prompt services by Customs officers at the Command.

This they say will translate into better businesses for them because time they say is money.
