Night of Fun, Dance and Laughter

It was neither a seminar, conference nor workshop. It was therefore not a night for long speeches/questions and answers.

The NIMASA DG stated this very clearly in his opening remarks/welcome speech which he delivered extempore-when you see a man who earned his doctorate degree you know.

It was a night of celebration of staffs of the Agency and maritime stakeholders who have contributed in no small measure to successes recorded in the industry.

In Dakuku’s words “We are gathered here to celebrate hard working staffs of the Agency and other Nigerians who have gone beyond the call of duty, made sacrifices and laboured strenuously to take us from where we were to where we are”

“We may not be where we want to be yet but with the commitment and level of dedication to duty shown by these young men and women there need to thank them and encourage them to work even harder. Their enthusiasm indicates that there is indeed hope for Nigeria”, Dakuku said.

With the array of personalities at the event, the pride of place of the sector in the economy of Nigeria is thus reaffirmed and accorded due recognition.

Maritime stakeholder have emphasized that with good governance, adequate infrastructure and security, with efforts to harness potentials of the Blue Economy, there is no doubt that if the right policies are enacted and regulatory framework strengthened, the maritime industry could be the backbone/nexus  of the Nigerian economy.

The organizing committee chaired by the Director Special Duties, Hajia Lami Tumaka definitely knew what they were doing as there was no dull moment from commencement of the event till dawn.

The Team NIMASA had a five star performance!

Memories

One memorable moment during the 2019 NIMASA Awards was the dancing competition.

The winner, a young lady in Special Duties Directorate headed by Director, Special Duties, Hajia Lami Tumaka, danced her way to the UK, courtesy of a Travels Agency.

The Second prize went to a young chap, who, invited by a NIMASA staff couldn’t resist the  vibes of DJ Lambo.

He took to the floor and danced his way to Dubai, courtesy another Travels Agency!.

Were he a staff of NIMASA, his leg works would have taken him to UK long before the overall winner took off her high heeled shoes!

The third prize was won by a young lady who was the guest of an unmarried NIMASA male staff. Asked she is to him by the MC,  he replied “She is my wife to be”

For her dancing stunts/efforts, she earned two nights rest at the Nicon Hilton Hotel Abuja.

While several guests wondered how she would spend the nights, the young chap whose guest she was sure has decisions to take and plenty of work to do to concretize a union solemnized at NIMASA’S Corporate Dinner/Awards Night 2019!
