“I am humbled” he says

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the conferment of the National Honours in the rank of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) on the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr Bashir Jamoh.

In a letter dated 19th September 2022 and signed by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume the formal investiture ceremony is expected to take place at the international Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022

A copy of the letter from the Presidency reads “I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the conferment of the National Honours on you, in the rank of OFR (Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic).

“The investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at the international Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022 at 9:00am.

“Accommodation (Bed & Complimentary breakfast) fs reserved for you at Reiz Continental Hotel, CBD, Abuja. Registration at check-in will be on Monday, 10 October, 2022 from 12noon.

“A valid means of identification will be required. All Award Recipients are required to forward a one-page citation and Current passport photograph to maruahmadu82. ahoo.com”

The elated NIMASA DG, Dr Bashir Jamoh has expressed his surprise at the award, saying that  he never expected to rise to the position of NIMASA DG.

“Words cannot express how humbled I feel to be so considered for the National Honour as an Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR). When I began my maritime journey 30 years ago, little did I know that I would be so favoured by Almighty Allah to rise to the position of DG of NIMASA” he stated
