“We shared a lot and he told me a lot of things with plenty of advice”-Rector

Otunba Kunle Folarin

The death of Otunba Kunle Folarin, Chairman, Nigeria Port Consultative Council, NPCC, reverberates across Nigeria’s maritime industry as stakeholders consisting of CEOs, Agents, Freight Forwarders, Importer/Exporters, Cadets and Seafarers bemoan the demise of a great man.

Apart from being the chairman of the NPCC, Otunba Kunle Folarin was also the Chairman of the  National Seafarers Welfare Board, NSWB. The outpouring of emotions and pains on his death is understandably deep and hurting to many maritime technocrats in Nigeria.

Speaking with Maritime Nigeria on the unfortunate development, the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Commodore Duja Effedua Emmanuel (rtd), said the management, staff and Cadets of the Academy were shocked and saddened by the news of Folarin’s death.

“He was passionate about the progress of the Academy . He was a great Nigeria and I am glad we honoured him with a street at the Academy in recognition of his contributions to the Institution”.

“We did this a year before his passing, He was so happy”!

“We chatted last on November 6, he told me about his health “.
“I never knew that was his goodbye. I am glad we chatted. He was a pillar. We are pained at the Academy”

“We pray for the repose of his soul “
