BRT BUS and Train Collision: Minister Orders Investigation
The Honourable Minister of Transportation Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has expressed his deep concern over the train accident involving a train operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation and a Lagos State Staff bus which occurred this morning.
In a statement by the ministry, the minister said the bus was conveying workers to work in the early hours of today in Shogunle, Lagos.
The Honourable Minister has commiserated with the families of the victims and particularly the Governor and the people of Lagos State over this incident and has expressed his deepest concern and condolences. He also prayed for eternal repose for those who have lost their lives and that the Almighty God grant them eternal rest as we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Sambo also expressed his sincere appreciation for the cooperation gotten from the Lagos State Government, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and concerned Lagosians who swung into action after the ill-fated incident to ensure that the site was cleared and the injured got treatment expediently.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister of Transportation has ordered a detailed investigation of the incident and the Nigerian Railway Police Command has effectively taken over the investigation of the incident that has led to the unnecessary loss of lives this morning in Lagos.
Sources disclosed that the Nigerian Railway Police command has effectively taken over the investigation into the incident as a result of the directive of the Honourable Minister of Transportation for a detailed investigation of the incident.
