“Ag. CGC Is a Grassroots Man Who is In Touch”-Bola Muse
“He Has the Capacity to Deliver”
Hajia Bola Muse is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bomarah group of companies, a wholly indigenous conglomerate with a strong and passionate desire for excellence. Bomarah is a diversified group with a global focus and business interests in key sectors of the Nigerian economy such as foods, agro-allied, Construction, Travels and Tours as well as Logistics.
Taking Maritime Nigeria’s One Question with Kelvin Kagbare on the appointment Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as Ag. Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Bomarah Boss hailed the appointment and expressed confidence that the Ag. CGC will deliver on his mandate; excerpts:
“The acting Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC is a grassroots person. I would not be wrong to call him a man of the people! He is the right man in the right place and in the right office”.
“He has the capacity to make things right and give the freight forwarders a breath of fresh air because right now a lot is not right in the ports and freight agents are battling with a lot of things”
“I read what our father, Prince Shittu said about him on your platform and I agree with the views expressed by the Prince completely. I have a hundred percent confidence that the CGC will deliver on the task before him”
“There is so much he has to do but firstly, I think it is very important that he convenes a stakeholders meeting to resolve the issues between the terminal operators, the shipping lines and clearing agents”.
“There are so many issues the acting CGC needs to look into. I can tell you that there is a lot of agitation going on among freight forwarders right now which the acting CGC has to proffer solutions because a lot is not right within the industry but I have no doubt in my mind that he has the requisite knowledge and the administrative expertise required to achieve excellence”
“You know he has been out of the ports for sometimes and so much has happened. There has been changes which he needs to be aware of by meeting with stakeholders. I know his officers would have briefed him but he need to get his boots on the ground within the ports and get firsthand information as it pertains to operations in the ports”.
Maritime Nigeria recalls that the Ag. CGC has commenced public enlightenment on the new Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
Speaking on the Act the Acting CGC said “As a responsible institution, we are not unmindful of the fact that members of the public are not yet familiar with the provisions of this Act, most importantly, the new procedure, processes and the very stiff punitive provisions in the law”.
“We are equally appreciative of the urgent need to sensitize the public on the provisions of this law to prevent the excuse of ignorance of the law, which is not a defence. The Service will continue to sensitize and educate the public on the provisions of the law and Customs procedure and processes”, the CGC said.
Maritime stakeholders are upbeat on the appointment of the Ag. CGC as they look forward to better days.
