NUJ’s Chapel Elect Edomi, Others as Executives
Promises Open Door Policy and Welfarism
Ovie Edomi a Journalist with about three decades of journalism practice experience an a PhD holder in Mass Communication specialising in development communication from Babcock University was yesterday elected Chairman of the federated maritime media chapel, FMMC, along with others at the NUJ, Lagos Council’s State-of-the-Art Press Center in Lagos
Dr Edomi who worked with TELL magazine for over a decade before becoming the Business/Maritime Editor of Money Post, established South South International magazine in 2006.He was equally a former publicity Secretary of Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, former president of League of Maritime Editors and former media Consultant to Maritime Academy of Nigeria.
Edomi, who hails from Eku, Delta State promised to run an open administration that would be fair to all members. He equally said the welfare of Journalists operating in the maritime sector that are members of NUJ will be the major focus of the new Executive.
The Chairman of the Lagos Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr Adeleye Ajayi while administering the oath of office on the newly constituted executives made up of Dr Ovie Edomi, Chairman; Gboyega Oni, Vice Chairman; Mr Felix Kumuyi, Secretary; Babajide Okeowo, Assistant Secretary; Mrs. Shulamite Foyeku, Treasurer; Joy Eso Brown, Financial Secretary; and Lod Onyeji, Auditor, urged the new executive to imbibe the culture of excellence in the discharge of their duty while upholding the tenets of journalism and noted that the new executive will pilot the affairs of the Chapel for the next three years.
Speaking on behalf of the executive, Dr Edomi thanked the NUJ Lagos Council Chairman, Adeleye Ajayi for his insightful leadership and announced the duo of Mr Okey Iroegbu and Funso Olojo as Ex Officio members of FMMC.
