FG Removes Koko, Appoints Dantsoho MD NPA

As Presidency demands efficient port services and improved economy

For Management and staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, July 12, 2024 is another date with history and epoch turning point as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appoints Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

In a move to actualize the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President has also approved the appointment of Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the Board of the the Agency.

In a media statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, the appointment are with immediate effect.

Before his appointment, Dr. Dantsoho had served in the Nigerian Ports Authority as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff and Billing.

Senator Adeyeye, a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician, is a former Minister of State for Works and former Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

The statement from the Presidency is to the effect that the President expects the new leadership of NPA to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.

Profile 

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho holds a PhD in Maritime Technology, from the Prestigious Liverpool John Moores University, UK, an M.Sc in International transport from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK, and a B.Sc from the Prestigious University of Maiduguri.

Dantsoho has been in the Maritime industry for well over twenty-five (25) years, with skills in Maritime Technology, Ports Management and Operations, logistics, Business, and Strategic Planning, Project Management, and research/studies with international institutions, including the World Bank and Crown Agent UK.

He was also the former Port Manager of the Onne Port in Rivers State.
