Stakeholders in the Nigerian maritime industry have  been meeting behind closed doors on how to further develop the industry through Foreign Direct Investments from ship owners and maritime entrepreneurs from within and outside Nigeria.

Alhaji Rowaye , Otunba Sola Adewunmi,Madam Funmi Folusho ,Mr Bolaji Sunmola and Gbolahan Adu at the meeting

Speaking at an enlarged, all inclusive meeting at the Radisson Blu Anchorage hotel in Victoria Island Lagos,  President of the Nigeria Ship Owners Association, NISA,  Otunba Sola Adewumi, said NIMAREX was envisioned to showcase the vast potential and opportunities within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

According to the NISA President, “While circumstances have kept NIMAREX from being held since 2014, today we gather to reignite its purpose with renewed energy and a unified spirit”

“One of the key advocacies of our previous NIMAREX events was the call for the creation of a dedicated Ministry for Maritime Affairs, a goal that we are proud to see realized by the current Nigerian government with the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy”

“This is a testament to what we can achieve when we speak with one voice and work towards a common goal. It reinforces the power of our collective efforts and the importance of NIMAREX as a platform for advocacy and collaboration” Adewumi said.

On what NIMARE stands for and looks forward to achieve, Otunba Sola Adewumi called on maritime stakeholders to embrace NIMAREX as an event for all stakeholders.

“As we embark on this new chapter, it is crucial that we all recognize NIMAREX as our event; a true umbrella that brings together all maritime associations, fostering unity and cooperation across the entire industry”

“This is not just an event for NISA; it is an event for every stakeholder in the maritime sector. Together, we can make NIMAREX a rallying point where our shared interests are promoted, our challenges are addressed, and our future is shaped” he said.

The NISA President noted that the success of NIMAREX depends on the active involvement and contributions of every association and stakeholder pin the industry.

“I extend an open invitation for your suggestions and ideas on how we can collectively plan and execute this event in a manner that truly reflects the diverse and dynamic nature of our maritime community. Your insights and collaboration are invaluable as we work together to make NIMAREX an event that we can all be proud of”

Jean Chiazor Anishere, Engr, Greg Ogbeifun, maritime media executives are among maritime stakeholders at the inaugural meeting.
