DMP 2024: Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho Task Stakeholders On Sustainable Blue Economy

Emmanuel Iheanacho; and Executive Director Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services Mr. Jibril Abba. During the Maiden Interactive Session of maritime stakeholders with DG/CEO NIMASA in Lagos.

The Chairman, Integrated Oil and Gas Ltd, Genesis Worldwide Shipping and former Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho has called on maritime stakeholders to join hands with government and operators in the industry to ensure the  sustainability of the Marine and Blue Economy for the country and citizens.

President of the Nigerian Shipowners Association, NISA, Otunba Sola Adewunmi Presents Maritime Nigeria’s Symbolic Plaque of Honour to the Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho; Mr. Henry Konyeaso at the event.

 

Speaking at the 2024 edition of the National Discourse with Distinguished Maritime Personalities, DMPs, the former minister of Interior who expressed his delight and pleasure to Chair the event said the Marine and Blue Economy has the potential to unlock great fortune for Nigerians if properly harnessed  diligently managed.

Mr. Kelvin Kagbare handing over a Customised Symbolic Plaque of Honour To Engr. Greg Ogbeifun for Presentation to Dr. Emeka Akabogu as a Distinguished Maritime Personality, DMP, at the event.

“Today, we gather at the confluence of opportunity and innovation, poised to unlock the vast potentials of our nation’s marine and blue economy, I invite you to join me in embracing the transformative power of human capital and infrastructure in shaping the future of our marine and blue economy”

“Nigeria’s marine and blue economy is a treasure trove of untapped resources, waiting to be harnessed for the benefit of our people and the nation. With a vast coastline, rich marine biodiversity, and a strategic location, we are poised to become a leading player in the global marine and blue economy”

However, to fully realize this potential, we must prioritize investment in human capital and infrastructure development.

On the Discourse as put together by Maritime Nigeria and its relevance, the revered national figure and shipping expert and business magnate said “This Discourse is a critical step in that direction, bringing together experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to chart a course for sustainable growth and development”

“In the course of the Discourse, we will delve into critical topics that will shape the future of our marine and blue economy. From maritime education and training to port infrastructure development, blue economy entrepreneurship, and sustainable coastal management, our speakers will share cutting-edge knowledge, best practices and innovative solutions as we explore the intersection of technology and sustainability and examine case studies of successful marine and blue economy initiatives from around the world”

Tasking speakers and participants to think creatively and positively, the Integrated Oil and Gas Boss said “As we explore these critical themes, I encourage you to think creatively about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead”

“How can we leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of our marine and blue economy? How can we build a skilled and knowledgeable workforce that can drive innovation and growth”?

“How can we balance economic development with environmental sustainability and social responsibility? These are the questions that will shape the future of our marine and blue economy”

Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho who was represented by his Executive Personal Assistant, Mr. Henry Konyeaso thanked all participants and guests for their tireless efforts in making the 2024 National Discourse a reality and huge success

“Your contributions are a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared commitment to Nigeria’s marine and Blue Economy. I also thank our participants, for their interest and engagement. Your participation is a vital ingredient in the success of this Discourse and I encourage you to actively engage, ask questions and share your experiences” Iheanacho said.

Setting the tone and direction for the program, Iheanacho reiterated “At this 2024 National Discourse, I invite you to join me in embracing a vision of a prosperous and sustainable future for Nigeria’s marine and blue economy”

“A future where our people have the skills and knowledge to drive innovation and growth. A future where our infrastructure supports the efficient and sustainable use of our marine resources. A future where our Marine and Blue Economy becomes a beacon of hope and opportunity for generations to come”

The 2024 National Discourse with Distinguished Maritime Personalities had as theme “The Human Capital Component, Assets and Infrastructure for the Marine and Blue Economy in Nigeria”

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Dayo  Mobereola was among maritime dignitaries that graced the event.
