IAPH: NPA Commits To Deepen Port Efficiency
The 2024 International Association of Ports and Habours, IAPH, with several countries in attendance, has the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority ( NPA,) Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, with some of his management team participating.
The NPA Boss used the opportunity to solicit partnerships, renewed support and technical synergy of the global shipping community as Nigeria finalizes moves to implement the National Single Window (NSW) project.
As a participant at the World Ports Conference held in Hamburg-Germany, Dr. Dantsoho stressed that the National Single Window project has the potential to boost port efficiency and eliminate human interface.
His words “The renewed vigor with which Nigeria is accelerating the implementation of the National Single Window project will in fundamental terms, deepen port efficiencies by eliminating human interface which has undermine In-Country trade facilitation efforts. It requires intensified international technical support to meet and indeed exceed global expectations”, he said.
Dantsoho commended the Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola’s policy support, which he said, propelled NPA’s finalization of the crucial phase of the Port Community System (PCS), which is the precursor to the NSW.
Responding to the call by the President of International Association of Ports & Harbours (IAPH), Mr Jens Meier for ports to actively collaborate on knowledge sharing with the maritime community to accelerate decarbonization, Dantsoho said “The NPA is fully aligned and we were deliberate at ensuring that our ongoing Port Modernization program is guided by the imperatives of eco-friendliness”.
The 2024 IAPH World Ports Conference with the theme “Managing Risk, Building Resilience and Unlocking Opportunities at Ports” commenced on 8th October in Hamburg, Germany. It brought together leaders in the global port community to share ideas necessary to face the realities of an epoch of unprecedented upheaval and opportunities.
