Journalist Bags Ogoni Award, Set To Receive OWA Recognition
The Ogoni Welfare Association (OWA) Lagos, an indigenous socio-cultural organization of the good people of Ogoni is set to honour Nkpemenyie Mcdominic of the Tide Newspaper for his immense contributions on information dissemination to the community, Rivers state and Nigeria.
Nkpemenyie who is a frontline maritime journalist based in Lagos has over two decades of media practice, Â holds a sensitive position as the bureau Chief of the South West, of The Tide Newspaper.
The Ogoni born journalist is also a member, Association of Maritime journalists of Nigeria (AMJON), was nominated in a letter,signed by the organization chairman, Engr Migah Nwinmene and made available to our correspondent by the Ogoni Welfare Association (OWA) Lagos dated September 30 2024.
According to the letter tagged ,”NOMINATION FOR OGONI WELFARE ASSOCIATION SPECIAL AWARD “described Nkpemenyie Mcdominic as a leading journalist who stood by OWA to publish Ogoni articles both in Lagos and Nigeria in general.
“For putting your career on the edge even in the midst of paucity of funds, this award is our little way of saying thank you”
The event is expected to come up during the visit of the President of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) , Engr. (Dr.), Olu Anda Wai-Egosu to Lagos on Saturday 26th of October, 2024 at Ken Saro Wiwa Hall, Ogoni House.
