Port Operations: NPA Firemen Extinguish Fire In Lagos Port
NPA firemen Acted Promptly and Professionally
In what could have resulted in huge loses and stalled sea port operations, the Management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), under the watch of Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has informed that a reported fire incident at the APMT Terminal Apapa (Saturday morning) has been professionally extinguished by the NPA firemen with the help of other sister agencies in the port.
The fire which reportedly started from one of the APMT cranes in the Apapa terminal was put off before any damage could be done to other facilities at the port.
Spokesman for NPA, Mr. Ikechukwu Onyemekara, in a statement sent to Maritime Nigeria, stated that the Managing Director of NPA Dr. Dantsoho expressed his appreciation to the well equipped NPA firemen for their swift response and professionalism in putting out the fire and avoiding lose of life in the incident and damage to port facilities.
“Port users and other stakeholders are assured that the current Management of NPA led by Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, would continue to prioritise the safety of life and property in the ports, as part of efforts to enhance the ease of doing business in all Nigerian ports” Onyemekara said.
