As PTML Command Net N150b In Four Months

The Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday, declared that the Command generated over N150 billion between November 11, 2024 and March 4, 2025 with the activation of the B’Odogwu revenue platform by the Service as introduced by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

Compt Tenny Daniyan CAC, PTML Command

Speaking with members of the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria,  AMJON, in his office, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan announced that the B’Odogwu platform greatly helped the PTML Command to generate the amount after overcoming initial hitches posed by the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System, NICIS, then  hosted by Web Fontaine.

He lauded the wisdom of the Comptroller General of Customs, in birthing the project which he said would soon be launched and implemented in other Commands just as  the CGC has visited Apapa and Tin Can Commands to sensitize the trading public ahead of the commencement of  trade under the B’Odogwu platform.

According to Compt Daniyan, aside the initial challenges experienced during the pilot stage, the platform has been running smoothly  as it generates enhances trade processes and increased revenue to the  federal government.

He added that the platform also afforded the trading public the opportunity to maximise their business potential at the command.

Speaking on how he and his men making things happen at PTML, Controller Daniyan said “Let me give it to the CGC because since his appointment, he has been very  innovative, churning out projects for the welfare of the trading public, facilitating trade and ensuring that traders get value  and returns in their genuine transactions”

“The CGC  has introduced projects like the Time Release Study, TRS,  Advanced Ruling, AR,  the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)  among others which are for the benefit of the trading public”

“B’Odogwu is one of the CGC’s legacy projects. It is called Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) which is to replace the existing NICIS. Section 28 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act empowers Customs to initiate a platform for revenue collection”

“In deference to that section and in compliance with provisions of the Customs Act,  the CGC in his wisdom started this B’Odogwu project to replace NICIS. We thank God that on October 23rd, 2024, the CGC launched it here and since we started, the baby is growing very well  and doing very well too!”

“We thank God that we took a bold decision and today, it is working for us and by that, we were able to get along and I am able to tell you that NICIS stopped since November 11, 2024”

“So far, we have been able to collect one hundred and fifty billion naira since we commenced B’Odogwu in November, 2024”

The PTML Boss disclosed that the journey has not been rosy but with determination and commitment by officers and men of the Command, the raging storm was curtailed and all the teething challenges resolved.

“The Web Fortaine group felt threatened when during the pilot stage of the B’Odogwu project at PTML. They even locked us out from their platform and we could not do much from here. We had to go to Tin Can Command to carry out our Transactions”

“When it became unbearable, we had to shut down all operations with shipping companies, Terminals and others. It was not an easy decision but we are happy today because we took that drastic decision; so far so very good, we are confident of meeting and surpassing our targets and projections at this Command going forward” Compt Daniyan declared.
