As the MD Harps On Innovation, Leadership and Greener Shipping

The NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited, NSML, has launched its new company logo, marking a significant turning point in the Company’s evolution into a leading  integrated marine services company and its growth, diversification and expansion into new markets and service offerings.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new logo in Lagos, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSML, Abdulkadir K. Ahmed,  told newsmen that the new identity reflects a closer alignment with the NLNG Group’s rebranding project, which started with the rebranding of NLNG in 2024. The MD said the new logo reinforces NSML’s commitment to collaborative success, excellence, and sustainability in the maritime sector.

“I am delighted that we have come to this momentous occasion to unveil our new identity, one that reflects our ambitions, values, and unwavering commitment to excellence into the future. Today marks the dawn of a new era for NSML as we rebrand to establish ourselves as a formidable player on the global maritime industry stage. NSML has long been a champion of innovation, excellence, and dedication to Nigeria’s maritime sector”

L-R: Capt. Lawrence Chukwu Manager, Terminal Service, NLNG Shipping and Marine Services (NSML); Mr Abdulkadir Ahmed, NSML MD/CEO; Dr. Sophia Horsfall, GM, External Relations & Sustainable Development, NLNG; and Capt. Abiodun Laleye Manager HSE/DPA (NSML) during the unveiling of NSML’s new logo in Lagos.

On how the NSML journey has been, Ahmed said “We have evolved; since we commenced operations 15 years ago, from a purely manning company to an integrated shipping, maritime and marine services company providing topnotch maritime services in the industry. We have been a critical enabler of ensuring the seamless delivery of LNG to different terminals around the world by providing efficient technical management services to the vessels that are involved in this activity”

“In our continuous quest for excellence, NSML established a state-of-the-art training and research centre—the first of its kind in the region, the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) within the NLNG Plant complex in Bonny Island. This pioneering facility offers cutting-edge shipping operations simulation, providing immersive, real-world experiences that equip seafarers, marine engineers, and industry professionals with the skills they need to excel, and for career progression and growth in the maritime industry”

“This training centre is more than a facility; it is a testament to NSML’s commitment to knowledge, innovation, and empowering the next generation of maritime professionals”

On what the new identity entails and means for NSML and the global shipping industry, the MD/CEO said

“By rebranding, we are declaring our ambition to be a trusted partner in the global maritime industry, meeting the evolving needs of the industry with cutting-edge solutions and unparalleled service. We are prepared to harness our proven expertise to engage actively in the global maritime sector and market, delivering exceptional value to our customers across continents”

According to the NSML Boss, “The new logo features an “advanced swivel” in green, lemon and blue colours. The swivel symbolises NSML’s agility, evolution, and growing role as a world-class provider of integrated maritime services. As a member of the NLNG group, this design also reflects NSML’s vital role in connecting energy production with global markets. Our new logo is more than just a visual update”

“It embodies our core values of Professionalism, Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, and Care, reaffirming our mission to provide cost-efficient maritime services in a safe, reliable, and sustainable manner. This change also reflects our vision to become a recognised international leader in integrated shipping and maritime services, offering innovative and sustainable maritime solutions”

“We provide world-class integrated shipping and maritime services while fostering international maritime skills and standards in Nigeria. Over the years, we have committed to achieving excellence in the services we provide. We believe we have earned the right to aim for increased leadership in the industry and that is what this new brand is inspiring us to do”

“As part of the NLNG Group, we play a crucial role in connecting energy production to markets. As the energy world changes, we are evolving too, growing from traditional ship management to full-scale maritime solutions provider. By working smart and staying innovative, we are helping to drive sustainable development across Africa while supporting the global shift to cleaner energy. This puts NSML at the heart of the push for industry growth and a greener future,” he said.

giving clarity and understanding of the colours behind the new logo, Ahmed stated that the green colour signifies NSML’s strong commitment to safety, leadership in the maritime industry and dedication to sustainability whilst the blue colour reflected NSML’s reliability and operational excellence just as the lemon colour represents NSML’s spirit of innovation, commitment to excellence and focus on delivering forward-thinking maritime solutions for a sustainable energy future”

The MD/CEO said the rebranding is expected to strengthen NSML’s brand identity, positioning the company as a leading provider of integrated maritime services within and beyond Nigeria.
