Nigerian Shippers Celebrate Seafarers, Commits to Efficient Regulation

Globally, the World Maritime Day was celebrated yesterday by top Maritime nations as as Nigeria and others.
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, used the occasion to celebrate Nigerian Seafarers, highlights it’s regulatory responsibilities and further comitt to port efficiency and enhanced regulation and oversight.
While urging seafarers to remain steadfast and professional in their duties, Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Pius Akutah commended stakeholders and investors whose efforts continue to shape the trajectory of the nation’s maritime sector.
Speaking on this year’s WMD Theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation and Activity,” Dr. Akutah, voiced the critical role of industry players in fostering transparency, competitiveness, and sustainability across Nigeria’s ports.
The Council, as the designated Port Economic Regulator, remains focused on creating an enabling environment for trade facilitation, cost efficiency, and infrastructure development” Akutah said
The NSC Boss reiterated that its regulatory role and interventions are aimed at ensuring fair pricing, eliminating bottlenecks, and promoting accountability among service providers operating within the port ecosystem.
Akutah added that its work aligns with the broader vision of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, particularly in advancing Nigeria’s position as a maritime hub in West Africa.
The Council extended warm appreciation to all maritime stakeholders for their continued collaboration and investment, which have been instrumental in driving sectoral growth.
The Council emphasized that it is well positioned and empowered to regulate and ensure competitive tariffs and pricing on ports operations in Nigeria.
